Solved: I just bought Sims 4 only to find out my brother's computer doesn't have a disc drive and I'm wondering if I can install the game anyway. My brother and I just got a new laptop but it doesn't have a disc drive and we already have the Sims 3 on disc. How do we install the game without. So I just bought a new laptop (Lenovo Yoga Pro 2) and it doesn't have a CD drive. I want to install sims 3 which I have already bought the disk for. Is it possible to install it that with the disk or do I have to buy the download? If you mean playing your already installed sims 3 game without a disc, I heard you could contact EA stating you've lost your disc, giving them the code on the instruction manual and they'd give you the digital download for it. I've never done this though. If it is on a PC then insert the disc and wait for the auto-run box to come up and click on install. If it doesn't come up with the box the go on my computer and click on the sims 3.

Netbooks weren't built for gaming, so it may not run well for long once you get it installed. Netbooks are intended for basic web browsing and office documents (which explains their smaller size and lack of optical drives), so you may be better off getting a laptop, although heat will be an issue on both when it comes to gaming.

If you're going to download it legally online, you'll have to buy it again. EA Games doesn't offer it free just because Sims 3 is out.

They aren't always perfect, but worth a shot. Some patches I've tried didn't include game music or allow multi-player, but others worked fine. I downloaded the No-CD patch for Sims 2 Open For Business and it works flawlessly.
